Description

Whitney Houston Signed United States Marine Cap Worn During the HBO Special Welcome Home Heroes, 1991. White canvas officer's cap with glossy black plastic bill, top signed in black felt pen "Peace & Love/ Whitney" with a doodle of a smiley face. Additionally inscribed in black ink "I need and Love ya!/ but God loves and need you more.../ Love ya, Lil' Bit". Size 6 ¾. In Fine condition, with moderate scuff-marks and cracking to the bill. Includes photo of Houston wearing the cap on stage. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the Estate of Whitney E. Houston.

The HBO special Welcome Home Heroes was filmed at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Virginia and broadcast live on March 31, 1991. The concert itself was open to only 3100 people, all of whom were serving military personnel or their families. The show was held in honor of those who served in the Gulf War and won a Cable Ace Award for "Performance Music Special" in 1992. It was released on VHS in 1991, and DVD in 2002.

As seen in the Whitney Houston exhibit in the Grammy Museum from August 1, 2012 through May 27, 2013.
