Description
Vincent Price Personally Owned and Annotated Script from Michael Jackson's Thriller (Epic, 1983). This script from what is quite possibly the greatest music video ever filmed, Michael Jackson's Thriller, was personally owned by the inimitable Vincent Price, who lent his voice to the project. This resulted in an entertainment experience that perfectly blends one of the biggest Pop singles of all time with classic fright-film tropes and atmosphere. Printed on seven separate sheets of 8.5" x 11" paper, the script contains the lyrics to the song as well as Price's eerie lines. Perhaps of even more importance are Price's handwritten notes found on several pages. One of the best examples is in black fountain ink and recalls his experience on the project: "Just to show you I'm not an old fashioned ham actor -a couple of seasons ago I undertook a rock recording. Everyone kidded me about it but when it hit #1 on the charts and sold over 50 million albums - they sang a different tune - as I did." Another, in blue ballpoint that appears to have been scribbled over after writing reads: "Just had Prince here at the hotel. They told me he always came in and went out the back way. I wouldn't know him if I ran over him - he's too new." All pages in Very Good condition, exhibiting some handling wear (likely from Vincent Price!) and some light toning due to age. Also includes an 8.5" x 11" glossy print out of the Michael Jackson's Thriller logo in red and black for display purposes only.Drenched in classic horror atmosphere, the video was helmed by director John Landis (An American Werewolf in London), and written by both Landis and Jackson. Thriller features Jackson transforming into a catlike werewolf, a horde of the rotting (and dancing) undead, and an eerie graveyard. Price's sinister reading adds to the top-shelf horror legitimacy of the proceedings, and is the perfect icing on the ghoulish cake that is Thriller. Signed LOA from Victoria Price.
