The Rolling Stones Signed Chuck Berry UK Mono LP Vinyl Record (Pye, NPL 28024)....
Description
A INSPIRATIONAL ALBUM FOR THE STONES, SIGNED BY THE COMPLETE EARLY 1963 LINEUP
The Rolling Stones Signed Chuck Berry UK
Mono LP Vinyl Record (Pye, NPL 28024). Vintage original UK mono
12" vinyl pressing of the self-titled compilation album by rock n'
roll pioneer Chuck Berry - a central inspiration for the Rolling
Stones - released by Pye International by 1963. This record holds
the distinction of being signed by the 'complete' Rolling Stones
line-up as of January 1963. Signed to the reverse in ballpoint by
Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts, in blue ink by Brian
Jones, in black ink by Bill Wyman, and in pencil by founding member
and keyboardist Ian Stewart. Vinyl with Chess red/yellow labels, in
"The Sound of Entertainment" inner sleeve. This record is arguably
the most evocative album to have been signed by the Rolling Stones,
not least because it is signed by the 'complete' lineup as of
January 1963, including Charlie Watts, and Ian Stewart, keyboardist
and Stones member until May 1963. In addition, it represents the
musical allegiance for Rhythm and Blues which bound the Rolling
Stones together. In an episode etched in Rolling Stones history, a
chance encounter between Mick Jagger and Keith Richards occurred at
Dartford railway station on October 17, 1961. Their friendship was
kindled by a shared taste in the two R&B records which Mick was
carrying under his arm: The Best of Muddy Waters, and Chuck
Berry's Rockin' at the Hops - both rare Chess releases. The
present lot is a UK release with Chess disc labels, bearing the
same image of Chuck Berry in profile as the record held by Mick on
that fateful day. This extraordinary album therefore evokes that
famous meeting between Mick and Keith, captures the emerging lineup
in the 102 Edith Grove era, and shows the musical DNA which drove
the Rolling Stones to rock n' roll stardom. Sleeve exhibits visible
handling wear and age to the cover including ring wear, disc
exhibits several scratches. Comes with a full LOA from Beckett
Authentication Services and PSA/DNA.
