Description

Miles Davis Signed Agreement. A single-page agreement on CBS Records letterhead, dated August 30, 1967, and signed by Davis in blue ink. The agreement is in response to a request from Davis for a $1,500 advance to Jazz pianist and composer Gil Evans. The label notes that Evans owed them $3,000 for an advance on arrangements that were never delivered, and offers to grant the advance with Davis' backing and specific stipulations. Davis' collaborations with Evans while at Columbia in the late '50s resulted in the classic albums Miles Ahead, Porgy and Bess, and Sketches of Spain. Sadly, this collaboration never took place. The contract has two mailing creases, but is otherwise in Excellent condition. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
