Description

John Lennon, Signed In His Own Write Hardcover Book with Luncheon Invitation Ticket & Seating Chart (1964). First edition, second printing book autographed by John Lennon. This example was signed April 23rd, 1964 at the Foyles luncheon honoring Lennon, marking the publication of his book In His Own Write.

The historic event was held at the Dorchester Hotel in London. The book measures 5.5" x 7" with the signature boldly signed in blue ballpoint pen on the inside front page. This is the nicest example we have offered. It virtually looks brand new with minimal wear on the front and back covers.

Also included is a seldom seen invitation and seating chart to the luncheon. Invitation measures approx. 3 1/2" x 4 1/2". Seating chart unfolded measuring approx. 8 1/2" x 10". Exhibits folding, bending and expected toning due to age. Other guests included: Cynthia Lennon, Brian Epstein, Wilfred Brambell and Helen Shapiro. This event took place during the filming of A Hard Day's Night (1964). John missed the "Can't Buy Me Love" sequence and that is why you only see Paul, George, and Ringo in that part of the film.

A well-made clamshell case was created to house and protect the book. Paperwork with a photograph of John and Cynthia as well as a sales invoice from Perry Cox. This is a stunning and really fun piece of rock 'n' roll history. Also the first Beatles solo project of any kind. The book was a lark, not serious journalism, but captures Lennon's personality and free spirit perfectly. Original signed first edition copies of this book are extraordinarily scarce so don't miss this opportunity. Comes with an LOA from Frank Caiazzo and a COA from Heritage Auctions.
