Description

John Lennon Elephant's Memory Letter. Shortly after John and Yoko moved to the U.S. in early 1972, he hooked up with a backing band known as Elephant's Memory. They appeared with John and Yoko on the "Mike Douglas Show," his 1972 LP "Sometime in New York," and at the "One to One" benefit concert, one of Lennon's few solo concerts. In early 1973, Lennon no longer needed the services of the band, nor had he the money to keep them around, so he terminated their services via this handwritten letter. It reads, in part: "Dear Elephants, It's costing too much bread to keep you 'on a retainer' -- and I/we have no plans to tour or anything 'money making.' I hope you enjoyed yourselves (we did) -- your names known enough now to keep you going. So we'll give you till ____ then your on your own." The band split up about a year later. The letter is in excellent condition, beautifully matted and framed with the story its strange history printed across the matte in handsome script. With COA from PSA/DNA.
