Janis Joplin Handwritten Letter to Peter DeBlanc. A "pre-fame" letter from September 1, 1965, the year that was pretty much the last "normal" period of Joplin's short and tragic life. At the time, she was living with her parents in her hometown of Port Arthur, Texas, and attending school at Lamar Tech. Her fiancé, Peter de Blanc, was in New York and she wrote him often. It reads in part: "Hi, I've been thinking fondly of you. It surely will be nice when we can get married. It's going to be great!". She also writes about seeing the Beatles movie Help! (" was damned good, but I guess nothing will ever be able to top their first one for me.") and moving to New York. In Excellent condition and accompanied by the original mailing envelope (Fine to Very Fine), which has a Port Arthur postmark with the date September 2, 1965, and "No. 7" written on the top left corner. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
