Frank Zappa Annotated 200 Motels Score. "Touring makes you crazy," Frank Zappa said of the inspiration for the 1971 movie 200 Motels. The movie had a $600,000 budget, seven-day shoot, and an 11-day post-production period, all of which helped capture the sort of chaos Zappa and the Mothers of Invention wanted to depict. Most of the musical soundtrack for this film was recorded live as the film was shot and, like the movie, the double-album soundtrack LP was completed in about a week. Included in this lot is a large composition book labeled "The Pleated Gazelle" with Zappa's named embossed on the cover, containing annotated sheet music for the aforementioned sequence in the film, a suite of five orchestral/choral pieces that is considered one of the highlights of Zappa's career.
