Elvis Telegram From the Lansky Brothers (1956). It was the year Elvis became The King of Rock 'n' Roll, the magical year of 1956. Although he had appeared on the Dorsey Brothers Stage Show, The Milton Berle Show , and The Steve Allen Show earlier in the year, it was his three appearances on the top-rated Ed Sullivan Show that most affected Elvis' rise to national icon status.

This telegram -- sent at the time of Presley's second appearance on Sullivan's show (October 28, 1956) -- was to Elvis from Bernard and Guy Lansky of Lansky Brothers Men's Shop on Beale Street in Memphis. Elvis began buying clothes at Lansky's when he was just a teenager, and the Lanskys later played a big part in Elvis' image, creating his distinctive fashion style. Over the years, Elvis often returned to their store to shop and visit his old friends.

The telegram reads: "Watching your show in Dallas Texas[.] Attending biggest mens [sic] fashion show in country, also picking your next sharp outfit. If possible to make casual remark about Lansky Brothers men shop on famous Beale Street would really appreciate it. Good luck to you. Bernard and Guy Lansky."
Included with the telegram is a photo of Elvis and the Lanskys in their store, and a canceled, signed check from Elvis to "Lansky Bros Men Shop" dated June 1, 1956. It doesn't get much cooler than this, and these items are being offered without reserves. COAs from Elvis Presley Enterprises, Graceland and Rick Consola.
