Description

Elvis Presley Twice Signed Charro! Movie Contract (1967). In late 1967 Elvis enthusiastically signed on for his first movie role that did not revolve around singing. The movie's working title: That Jack Valentine. The 25-page contract dated November 6, 1967 enlisted Elvis for the movie to be produced by National General Productions. The King has signed the document in two places, on page 16, as has National General Productions Vice President, Albert Jaeger, and Elvis' manager, Colonel Thomas Parker; and again on page 7 of the addendum, Exhibit A. Since a stapled tag on this copy of the contract indicated Albert Jaeger was providing it to movie producer Roger Sherman, it's presumed Sherman was the original choice to be the movie's producer, but by the time the movie was released in 1969 - Elvis' 29th full-length feature film - the name had become Charro! and the producer was Charles Marquis Warren. Like virtually all of Elvis' movies, it was profitable venture, with the star earning nearly as much as the cost of the movie itself. Double your pleasure with two Elvis autographs!
