Elvis Presley Signed and Inscribed Self-Titled LP (RCA, LPM-1254). An original copy of Elvis Presley's debut 1956 LP for RCA Records signed and inscribed to our consignor in green ink. Inscribed, "To Sherry, Yours, Elvis Presley" right on his guitar.This is one of the most spectacular Elvis Presley items Heritage Auctions has ever auctioned in our 43-year history.
In the autograph-collecting world, an LP record signed on the front, and legibly with good contrast, is just about the best place you can ask to have an autograph. Beatles albums of this nature sell for tens of thousands of dollars.
The arrival of Elvis, "Heartbreak Hotel" and his first album in 1956 changed the world. The fact that we have Elvis's first album signed to our consignor in the 1950's, who has held it for 63 years before consigning it to us, and with other photographic proof of her friendship with the King of Rock 'n' Roll, is just completely off the charts. (Be sure to see her posing with Elvis in a 50's photograph that he also signed and inscribed to her. Plus another 50's photograph signed and inscribed to her.)
The fact that it's signed in a green ink pen, which matches the green on the album jacket, is amazingly fun added value.
The term "rare" is tossed around a lot in this hobby, but if ever it applies... this is a super-rare and precious opportunity to acquire a 1950's Elvis signature on one of his 1950's album covers directly from the person he signed them to (with us as the middleman, obviously)... from a consignor that we carefully vetted, obviously, and who has plenty of evidence of her friendship with Elvis as a young woman in the 1950's, as evidenced by the other photos.
The only downside is that the bottom of this LP jacked was attacked by mildew from decades of storage. So we had the bottom front of the jacket restored, but not the reverse. The new owner may choose to continue with verso restoration as well.
Vinyl is in GD-VG 4 while the jacket is in VG-EX 6 condition with soiling and corner bumping throughout. COAs from Elvis expert Rich Consola and Heritage Auctions.
