Description
Elvis Presley Commissioned Ten Outstanding Young Men of America Award Watch With Autographed Program Book and Photo (1971). The gorgeous watch was presented to our consignor by Elvis at Graceland on January 16, 1971 on the occasion of Elvis being honored as one of America's Ten Outstanding Young Men. Elvis had a Memphis jeweler, Harry Levitch, customize the premium Swiss-made watch, and he also gave one to each of the other nine honorees and some close friends in appreciation of the special occasion. The bezel of the watch is crafted with Elvis Presley in raised circular letters. The watch is a gold Mathey-Tissot automatic model, which is self-winding, water resistant, and has a sweeping second hand, day/date display, with a stainless steel underside and an adjustable wrist band. It's in excellent condition and is complete with the original watch case and box.Included here is the program for the Ten Outstanding Young Men of America event, autographed by Elvis. The award was given by the United States Jaycees for the year 1970 to Elvis Aaron Presley and nine other young men under the age of 35 for their outstanding achievements. The program is for The United States Jaycees 33rd Annual Congress of America's Ten Outstanding Young Men ceremony which was held January 15-16, 1971 in Memphis. Elvis was present to accept the award and to make an acceptance speech. Inside the program is a picture of Elvis with his award bio, which he personally autographed, as did the other nine honorees. The 71-page program is in like-new condition.
Also included is a photo of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of America, including Elvis. This particular photo may be the only one in existence. It's 8" x 10" and in good condition. Note Elvis sitting at the end of the first row wearing his customary sunglasses. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
