Description
Elvis Presley Autographed Guitar Case Purchased at the Circle G Ranch Auction (1967). Elvis loved to ride horses and, in February 1967, he purchased a 163-acre ranch just across the Mississippi state line, naming it "Circle G" after Graceland, just to have room to expand his stable. Elvis and Priscilla spent part of their honeymoon there. Later that year, an auction was held to sell off some excess equipment along with a few personal belongings of Elvis. A 1967 newspaper article and photo (included) tells the story of this sale and two young ladies named Peggy Ferrell and Diana Hoover, roommates at the time, who attended this auction. They told the reporter that: "We're going to be practical, not sentimental today. Our house is full of sentimental things." Apparently sentimentality won out, as Peggy bid $15 on a "battered guitar case, said to be one of the first owned by Elvis" (there's no mention that she had a guitar needing a case). This case was later signed by Elvis to these young fans: "To Peggy and Diana from Elvis Presley" boldly on the inside bottom felt. This hardshell acoustic guitar case is not branded and has certainly seen some wear. The leather handle has broken off, but is included. The inside dimensions (in case you have a guitar without a case) are: 42" long, 16.5" at the lower bout and 11.5" at the upper bout. Also included is a vintage, well-worn "I Like Elvis" button, a Gibson guitar pick, and the related articles (two) and photos. Can you just imagine a young Elvis Presley carrying his guitar in this case to his early gigs? It can be yours.
