    Duke Ellington Archive Including Christmas Cards, Hand-Addressed Envelope, Contracts and More (circa 1960s). An incredible assortment of ephemera from and related to inimitable American Jazz icon Duke Ellington, including 1) six whimsical, personalized folding Christmas cards from Ellington and three mailing envelopes for the cards addressed to Tony Pappa, one of which is hand addressed by Ellington with his name and address written in his own hand in blue ballpoint on the closing flap; 2) two unsigned contracts for Duke Ellington performances, on on June 29, 1961 at Little Rock's Robinson Memorial Auditorium and the other for a January 11, 1968 concert at the Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas; 3) a Western Union telegram dated September 13, 1962 "confirming Duke Ellington for Houston City Auditorium November 19. Flat price 3000 dollars unfortunately; 4) two 16-page Duke Ellington booking information booklets; 5) nine glossy black and white 8" x 10" Duke Ellington promotional photos from ABC booking; 6) an unsigned contract for a Murray Horn concert to take place on February 1, 1968 at the Cabana Motor Hotel in Dallas; 7) a promotional photo/invite from the Terrace Lounge in East St. Louis. Items measure 16" x 20.5" and smaller. Conditions range from Good to Fine, with varying degrees of wear and toning. LOA from PSA/DNA. COA from Heritage Auctions.
