Doors/Jim Morrison Signed, Handwritten Sheet Music and Correspondence Archive Regarding the Doors Publishing Rights. When the Doors played their first New York City gig in November of 1966, the town took notice, as did Elektra VP Steve Harris. Within the month, the Doors signed with Elektra's Nipper Music. What a groundbreaking period for the young band, and Rock and Roll in general -- neither would ever be the same after this. Included in this stellar lot are multiple letters, applications, and memos regarding this transitional time. But the most incredible items in this time capsule are handwritten pages of sheet music with Jim Morrison's signature gracing the base of "I Looked At You". His signature, in black ballpoint, has been certified by PSA/DNA, as have the rest of the notations, including Morrison's emphatic comment in red ink: "Metronome! Do it!" The lot also includes handwritten sheet music, in pencil, for "My Eyes Have Seen You"; typed ASCAP applications for Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, and Robby Krieger (all dated November 1966); a 1966 letter establishing the incorporation of the Doors' publishing company; 1966 memos to and from Doors lawyer Max Fink discussing BMI and ASCAP membership for the band; and 1967 correspondence from Elektra to Fink requesting lead sheets and copyright assignments for multiple songs including "Strange Days" and "Love Me Two Times". An outstanding group of items in overall Very Fine condition with the expected age-toning. Accompanied by a COA from PSA/DNA.
