David "Stringbean" Akeman Autographed Booklet. A scarce copy of the obscure 22-page "String Bean 'The Kentucky Wonder'" song/joke book bears the very rare autograph of "String Bean" by the banjo player on the back cover in blue ink. Akeman, who joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1942, won over new generations in the late 1960s as an original member of television's Hee Haw crew. His tall, lanky frame earned him his nickname and made him one of the most recognizable personalities in Nashville. After more than three decades of delighting audiences on radio, stage, and television, the beloved musician/comedian and his wife tragically lost their lives in 1973, murdered by burglars in their rural Tennessee home. From the photos of String Bean, Tennessee Ernie Ford, and Red Foley included in the booklet, it would appear to be from circa 1950. The booklet is in Very Fine condition with mild wear and toning along the edges that does not affect the rare signature.
