Chet Baker Handwritten Signed Letter With Owned and Worn Clothing and Original Vintage Photographs. In his later years Chet Baker spent most of his time on the road in Europe, and spent long periods of separation from his companion Diane Vavra who had a residence in California. Here is a letter written from Chet to Diane in which he talks about his performance schedule and his longing to be back together with her. It reads: Wed. Morning, Paris It's still dark out, just a touch of light in the east. Its raining lightly; anyway when I stepped out of "Ali's" on to the wet cobblestones my thoughts went to you and how wonderful it would be have you to go for walks in the rain. I miss you. I'm lying in bed listening to the tape I recorded of the radio broadcast we did tonight. 90 minutes live from "Le Petit," our last night til the 18th Feb. when we play a concert in a small suburb about 20 K's from Paris, but I'll be playing with Michel at a record date for the son of "Tango," he wants me to record two tunes on an album he's making on the 17th, so I'm free from the 19th to the 23. The 24th I have another concert in the south of France. On the 1st of March I'm in Italy somewhere. The 2nd is a concert in "Forli," not too far from "Bologna." The 6 and 7th I play 2 nights in a nice club in "Aix en Provence." The 9th is a festival in "Ivrea" near Torino. I don't know about after that. I hope this money gets through to you. I need you here Diane need you here Chet. Accompanied by a set of five original snapshots of Chet, and he and Diane in Europe, together with two items of Chet's clothing of US origin, a wool navy blue sportcoat and a multicolored Gap cotton sweater. From the Diana Vavra Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.
