Buddy Holly and the Crickets Contract Signed by Norman Petty (1958) Just a few months after Buddy Holly and the Crickets' breakthrough smash hit "That'll Be the Day", the group was booked by "The Big Show Pty, Limited" for an Australian tour, that actually started with a performance on January 27, 1958 in Honolulu, while the group was en route to the Land Down Under. Legendary record producer Norman Petty signed Buddy Holly's name and "by Norman Petty" on this artist's copy of the contract, dated January 20, 1958. It's part of a 19.25" x 16.25" framed display that also features a photo of Holly and a typed itinerary detailing the group's flights from New York to Los Angeles to Honolulu to Australia over a scant two-day whirlwind!
