Description

Buddy Holly and the Crickets Band-Signed British Tour Book. During their 1958 heyday, Buddy Holly & the Crickets were big in America, and even bigger in England, where their popularity rivaled that of Elvis. Unlike Presley, they actually toured England, spending a month playing a series of shows that were still being written about 30 years later. In the process, they introduced the majesty of the Fender Stratocaster to the United Kingdom, and Holly's music and stage persona went on to inspire the likes of Hank Marvin of the Shadows, John Lennon and Paul McCartney of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones (whose hit 1964 cover of "Not Fade Away" was the A-side to their first US single), and others who would be at the forefront of the British Invasion. This rare copy of the program book from that historic tour was signed on the back cover by Holly, Jerry Allison, and Joe Mauldin in blue ink. This program is in Very Good to fine condition with some mild to moderate overall wear, tears, and creasing, as well as a split from the head of the spine to the bottom staple and a faint crease running through the upper portion of Holly's autograph -- none of which detracts from this desirable set of signatures. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
