Bob Dylan Signed 1958 "Hematite" High School Yearbook from Hibbing (Minnesota) High School. An 8" x 11" 150+ page hardbound book with a gold-stamped and padded cover. The future legend has signed this yearbook for his junior year right on the title page: "Dear Don,/ We had fun this year/ in English, huh? I'll/ probably see you this/ summer tho,/ Luck/ Bob Z". Of course, the "Bob Z" is short for his birth name of Robert Zimmerman. His junior class photo is found on page forty-seven. Though born in Duluth, his family moved to Hibbing when he was six. He began his foray into rock and roll while at Hibbing High in bands playing for talent shows and the like. After graduation in 1959, he attended the University of Minnesota for one year during which he started calling himself Bob Dylan (he loved Dylan Thomas, the poet). The rest is history. A truly rare and desirable Dylan collectible. Very fine.

One might wonder why a high school yearbook from Hibbing, Minnesota, would be named the Hematite. Well, it turns out that Hibbing sits right on the Mesabi Iron Range, a vast deposit of iron ore of which hematite is the principally-occurring form. In 1963, Dylan memorialized the region in his song "North Country Blues" (from The Times They Are a-Changin') which laments the hard times due to mines shutting down. It is also mentioned in a Springsteen song "Youngstown" (from Ghost of Tom Joad).
