    Description

Blondie - Debbie Harry Autographed Koo Koo Lightbox Display. An original vintage display fixture from the early 1980s, when the Blondie singer released her first solo album. With her reputation as one of the most beautiful and alluring performers in music, the cover art was seen at the time as sensational, bordering on scandalous. Done by the Swiss artist H.R. Giger, whose style presaged steampunk by decades, it was so shocking that a planned ad campaign in the London subway system was cancelled when officials deemed the image to be too disturbing. The fixture here is an 18" x 18" enlargement of the cover on translucent plastic, with a 5" deep cardboard box behind the cover which houses an electric light fixture, still working. There are some stains and small breaks to the corners of the cover, which is partially detached. Harry has boldly signed in black marker "To Danny / X Love / Debbie Harry 2009." A neat artifact for Harry fans. From the Danny Zelisko Collection. The consignor has pledged to contribute a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Collection to The Bill Graham Foundation, and to The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Against Cancer Foundation. COA from Heritage Auctions.
