Billie Holiday Handwritten Note. A 5.25" x 7" sheet of pale green stationery bearing an undated handwritten note by the Jazz legend in black ink. In full: "Please make my current check and all my future Doubleday checks payable to Billie Holiday instead of A. Weinberger. Thank you for your kind consideration. Sincerely yours,". Doubleday was the original publisher of Holiday's 1956 autobiography, Lady Sings the Blues, placing the note during the last few years of her life. Though she doesn't sign at the end, Holiday's use of her name in the text makes for a rather unconventional sort of autograph. In Very Fine condition with some mild wear and toning along the edges, and a horizontal fold crease that runs through the uppermost portion of Holiday's name. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
