    Description

Beatles Signatures on an Austrian Menu Obtained During the Filming of Help!, in Matted Display (Obertauern, March 17, 1965). A 4.25" x 6.25" daily menu card for the above date in Obertauern, Austria, listing the courses for Lunch and Dinner, likely from the Edelweiss Hotel where the Beatles stayed during the filming of HELP!. It is signed neatly on the back in dark blue ink by all four (top to bottom): "George Harrison", "John Lennon", "Paul McCartney", and "Ringo Starr". Double matted to an overall 16" x 20" with a reproduction of the menu front and an 8.5" x 5.5" B&W glossy photo of them sitting in an Austrian restaurant holding beer steins. Lower left corner of the mat is bumped. One horizontal crease affecting Paul's autograph, overall Fine. From the Uwe Blaschke Beatles Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

March through May 1965 found the Beatles filming their second feature film. After finishing in the Bahamas on March 9th, they arrived back in London on the 11th only to leave again on the 13th, headed for Austria. They spent the next nine days at the Edelweiss Hotel (rooms 502, 503, 504, and 505 to be precise) in Obertauern. It was during this period that the various "winter" segments were filmed, including the photo eventually used for the LP cover. March 17th specifically was the day they shot the scenes at the curling rink. It was also on this date the official title of the film was announced- Eight Arms to Hold You. Of course that was later changed to Help!
