Beatles - Jürgen Vollmer Signed From Hamburg to Hollywood Deluxe Limited Edition Genesis Book, #807 of 1750 (UK, 1997). A beautiful "...retrospective of Jürgen Vollmer's life and work, told through his own design, stories and photographs. It begins with recollections of Jürgen's time with The Beatles in his native Hamburg in 1960..." Handmade quarter binding with 130 silver-edged pages, 9" x 12.5", in an elegant presentation box, numbered and signed by Vollmer on the limitation page. Includes a 6" x 8" B&W photo of John Lennon on the stage of the Top Ten Club in Hamburg in 1961, also signed by Vollmer. "Meeting Jürgen Vollmer was a very important event in my life and the lives of the other Beatles. His sense of style and excellent photographic skills were to have a profound effect throughout our careers." (Paul McCartney). As-issued condition. From the Uwe Blaschke Beatles Collection.

Along with Astrid Kirchherr and Klaus Voormann, Jürgen Vollmer was the one of the Beatles' first friends in Hamburg. Vollmer was also an art student and photographer whose aesthetic sense had a great impact on the Beatles. Of particular note: In October 1961, one year after the Beatles first met the three young Germans, John Lennon and Paul McCartney ventured from Liverpool to Paris, a trip financed by a 100 pound gift to John from a relative for his 21st Birthday. Vollmer was now living on the Left Bank, and over the course of two weeks he introduced John and Paul to the city and its artistic, bohemian side. Inspired by both their friend and the city, John and Paul asked Vollmer to cut their hair into a style like his own - abandoning their greasy rocker quiffs for the combed-down "Beatle haircut" that within a few years would be known the world over.
