Beatles - George Harrison Signed "This Song / Learning How to Love You" German Picture Sleeve with White Label Promo 45 Record in Matted Display (Germany, WEA/ Dark Horse DH 16 856, 1976). A rarely-offered German promo copy of the first single released from Harrison's critically-acclaimed album Thirty Three & 1/3. It is boldly signed in black ink: "George Harrison" right across his upper lip on the picture sleeve photo. Attractively double matted together to an overall 15.5" x 11.75". Disc NM 8 / Sleeve NM 8. From the Uwe Blaschke Beatles Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

"This Song" was written in 1976 after George spent a week in a New York courtroom struggling (unsuccessfully) to convince a judge that he did not plagiarize the Chiffon's song "He's So Fine" when he wrote "My Sweet Lord" in 1970. "This Song" was written out of his frustration with the infringement case. The lyrics include the lines: "This song has nothing tricky about it/ This song ain't black or white and as far as I know/ Don't infringe on anyone's copyright, so.../ This tune has nothing Bright about it/ This tune ain't bad or good and come ever what may/ My expert tells me it's okay". Bright Tunes was the publishing company that owned the copyright to "He's So Fine". This single reached Number 25 on the US pop charts.
