Beatles - George Harrison Signed Stock Transfer Document (UK, July 30, 1969). One page, front and back, 8" x 13", a printed form filled in by typewriter and manuscript, signed neatly on the front in black ballpoint: "George Harrison." This documents the transfer of 735 ordinary shares of stock at 1/- per share in Blackberry Investments Limited to Whyte, Gasc & Company (Securities) Ltd. Blackberry was one of seven investment companies formed in December 1967 on behalf of the Beatles after the death of manager Brian Epstein. This is indicative of their complex financial and business affairs nearing the time of their breakup. A very desirable document as 1969-vintage autographs are uncommon. Bears £123 of tax stamps. Very Fine condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.

The date of this document found the Beatles in the studio working on their final album, Abbey Road, particularly a rough mix of the side two "Medley," which began with a song titled "You Never Give Me Your Money." This was written by Paul McCartney and documents the various financial and personal situations the group found themselves in. The second line, "You only give me your funny paper," generated the following comment by George Harrison in The Beatles Anthology (page 337): "'Funny paper' - that's what we get. We get bits of paper saying how much is earned and what this is and that is, but we never actually get it in pounds, shilling and pence. We've all got a big house and a car and an office, but to actually get the money we've earned seems impossible." This piece of "funny paper" can be yours.
