Beatles - George Harrison Signed Bank Check Order Form in Matted Display (London, July 25, 1974). A National Westminster Bank Limited 7.75" x 3.5" printed order form filled out in an unknown hand and signed nicely in blue ink: "George Harrison". Its purpose was to order two books of fifty check each for the Harrisongs Ltd. account; it is hand-dated July 25, 1974, and rubber-stamped by the bank on July 25th. Matted with an 8" x 6" B&W photo of George to an overall 16" x 19.5". From the Uwe Blaschke Beatles Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

Harrisongs Ltd. was a music publishing company set up by George in 1964 (originally named Mornyork). George (as well as Ringo) was contracted to Northern Songs, a company set up in 1963 by Brian Epstein and Dick James primarily to publish John and Paul's compositions. George and Ringo were both unhappy with that arrangement, feeling their royalty rates and status with the company were too low. As the company was set up, John and Paul were major shareholders and they would actually earn more from George's songs than he did. As a form of protest, Harrison wrote a song that the Beatles recorded in 1967 (issued on the Yellow Submarine soundtrack) called "Only a Northern Song" with lyrics including: "It doesn't really matter what chords I play / What words I say or time of day it is / As it's only a Northern Song". George (and Ringo) let his contract expire with Northern in 1968 and used Harrisongs to publish his late Beatle songs and early solo work. The company is now publishing music for George's son Dhani and his band.
