    Description

Beatles - Brian Epstein Typed Letter Signed to Peter Eckhorn of the Top Ten Club in Hamburg in Matted Display (Liverpool, January 24, 1962). A one page letter, 7" x 9", on personal "BE" stationery, 12-14 Whitechapel, to Peter Eckhorn, signed in full in black ink. He mentions their conversation about a possible March appearance for the Beatles at his club but states that they can't appear at that time as they have accepted a contract to appear at another club the next month but leaves open the possibility of a later engagement. The April engagement he mentions is the grand opening of the Star-Club, a major new competitor for the Top Ten Club. The Beatles would never play again at the Top Ten. Double matted with a 5" x 7.5" B&W portrait of Epstein to an overall 15.75" x 11.75". Original mailing creases, Fine. Please view this lot on our website for a transcription of the letter. From the Uwe Blaschke Beatles Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

    More Information:

    "Dear Peter,

"With further regard to our telephone conversation last week and the provisional arrangement for The Beatles to appear at your Club from March 1st.

"I am writing now to say that unfortunately they will be unable to appear on that date as they have been Contracted to appear elsewhere in Hamburg the following month. Possibly we will be able to accept another offer from you for an engagement later in the year.

"With best wishes to you and Tony.

    "Yours sincerely,

    Brian Epstein"
