    Description

Beatles Autographed Meet The Beatles LP (Capitol T 2047, 1964). The album is cool enough - after all, it's a nice copy (VG-EX 6/ VG 5) of the album that introduced most of us Boomers to the Fab Four (Introducing The Beatles, notwithstanding) in the pivotal year of 1964. But in this case, the album is but an attractive vessel for the autographs of all four Beatles!
It comes with a story: George Harrison gave the signed album to the "house doctor" of The Plaza Hotel in New York City during the Fab Four's first US tour in February, 1964. The quiet Beatle had been treated by Dr. Jules Gordon, the hotel's resident doctor from 1942 until 1985, and in appreciation had given the good doctor the signed album. It comes with a signed affidavit from Dr. Gordon's son, Jeffrey Adam Gordon, a lad of 10 years at the time of the signing. Dr. Gordon gave his son the treasure immediately, and it remained in Jeffrey's possession from 1964 to March, 2011.
Autographs by all four Beatles on one item was essentially limited to a few short years; in fact, by the late 1960s, it was already extremely rare that the group signed items simultaneously. To say a complete set of vintage autographs is in great demand is an understatement. Add that the autographs are on a copy of their first US Capitol album and the associated story, and this becomes a centerpiece of our auction!
