Beach Boys Related - Dennis Wilson Autographed Letter Signed to His Father (1968). One page, 8.5" x 11", January 29, 1968, on Sea of Tunes Publishing Company letterhead, to Murry Wilson. In pencil, Dennis writes: "Dear Dad I will take care of your 16 mm camera & projector, and return it in the same shape that it was Jan 29, 1968. 90 day limit. [signed] Dennis Wilson." Not only the father of three members of the Beach Boys (and uncle to another), Murry Wilson was also their first manager. He apparently was quite domineering and possibly even physically abusive. This letter illustrates the complicated relationship he had with his sons where one of them had to sign a letter in order to borrow a camera and projector. Sea of Tunes was set up by Murry in 1962 as a publishing company for the songs written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love. Just the year after this letter, thinking the group had peaked, he sold the company to A&M Records against the band's wishes. After his father's death, Brian unsuccessfully sued to recover the copyrights to his songs. However, he was awarded $25 million in damages and lost revenues. A very interesting and telling letter. Fine condition.
