Badfinger Pete Ham Handwritten Lyric Sheet "Apple of My Eye" (Apple, 1973).

Pete Ham was an incredibly talented songwriter and performer with the Beatles offshoot band, Badfinger, who recorded for the Fab's label, Apple. He wrote or co/wrote many of that band's biggest hits, including No Matter What, Day After Day, Baby Blue, and the ballad Without You, which went on to be a worldwide smash for Harry Nilsson. He was also a deeply sensitive and troubled young man. When Badfinger moved from Apple to Warner Brothers, disagreements with management and each other left the group broke and directionless, and Ham a despondent, heartbroken 27 year old man who ended up taking his own life. This set of lyrics for the group's last Apple single was basically Pete's "kiss off" to that label, beginning with the line "Oh, I'm sorry but it's time to move away." The lyrics are written in purple ink on an 8" x 11.75 sheet of paper, which has some light surface loss to the reverse side, which does not affect the lyrics on the front. Overall, the condition is Very Fine to Excellent. Previously auctioned by Heritage-Odyssey in 2004 as from the Tom Fontaine Music Memorabilia Collection. Accompanied by James Spence Authentication auction LOA.
