Albert Hofmann Signed Photo with "Whatever It Is" Letters Group. Albert Hofmann, the inventor of the chemical compound known as LSD, signed this small black and white 1940s-50s era portrait, in black ink. The photo is matted and framed with glass for an overall size of 7.125" x 9.125", with a mat opening of 3" x 4.5". It's in Excellent condition. Two 1966-vintage letters (one has two pages stapled together) concerning the San Francisco State College's "Whatever It Is" happening, held September 30-October 2, 1966. "Whatever It Is" was the last legal Acid Test, notable for a performance by the Grateful Dead. One document is a press release for the event, and the other is a call for volunteers to help out - the organizers wished to maintain a peaceful vibe in order to keep the police away. Both documents are in Very Good Plus condition, and provide an interesting glimpse into a fascinating chapter of '60s youth culture.
