DescriptionWillis O'Brien Photographs Including (2) from The Dinosaur and the Missing Link, (4) of O'Brien's Sons with "Son of Kong," and Production Photo from Son of Kong (1917/1933). Vintage original gelatin silver and silver bromide photographs on single and double-weight paper ranging in size from 4.5" x 3.5" to 8" x 10" including two images from one O'Brien's earliest documented projects, The Dinosaur and the Missing Link, both handwritten on the verso in O'Brien's hand, in part: "The Missing Link" A first 3rd-Dimension figure...San Francisco – 1915..."
This short caught the eye of Thomas Edison, which led him to hire "OBie" one production photo of "Son of Kong" wrestling a "Cave Bear" and four images of O'Brien's sons, Willis Jr. and O'Brien's blind son Bill, at the Son of Kong animation table handling the "Son of Kong" puppet. That same year O'Brien's wife would murder their two sons. All exhibit expected age and handling with the Mighty Joe Young photos exhibiting minor silvering. COA from Heritage Auctions.
