Description

Willis O'Brien featured bird puppet attributed to King Kong. (RKO, 1933) Vintage original miniature bird figure for stop-motion production in King Kong. The figure is constructed of composite body built over posable wire armature and hand painted. With actual feathers delicately applied over all. The figure measures 2 x 1.2 in. compacted. This and other birds and creatures were used for atmosphere and detail in the production of Willis O'Brien's stop-motion productions. Superficial figures or "characters" like this bird would have been used for multiple productions, including King Kong, in the background of epic environmental shots, posed with the meticulous care that the foreground characters were afforded. The figure exhibits age and wear. In vintage production used good condition. Originally from the collection of Mark Wolfe.
