William R. Ferguson's Gone With the Wind Campaign books. (MGM, 1939/1941) Collection of (4) MGM oversize deluxe campaign pressbooks, (2) for the initial 1939/1940 roadshow release of Gone With the Wind in limited theaters with reserved seats, and (2) for the 1-year anniversary general release. Of the two roadshow campaign books, while one example is a 16 x 18 in., 50-page studio pressbook filled with a myriad of exploitation suggestions, much coverage of the Atlanta premiere, and the entire poster and lobby-display campaign (in sepia-tone), the other is the most complete and deluxe example that has ever been offered for public sale, to the best of our knowledge, including not just the aforementioned oversize pressbook, but the original 8.5 x 20.5 in. poster and display accessories order form with prices, (4) different 16 x 18 in. publicity and advertising multi-page supplements, and most important, the full-color cardstock fold-over portfolio cover which contains all the aforementioned elements, and which reproduces all the (30+) posters and lobby cards which are specific to this initial roadshow release. While the cardstock cover shows expected wear and separations at folds, its color is bright and unfaded, and all contents within remain very fine, virtually unhandled. As if all this was not enough, this lot also includes (2) complete 18 x 24 in. double-section multi-page campaign pressbooks for the 1-year anniversary "general release", being the first time filmgoers were allowed to see Gone With the Wind in regular theaters at regular admission prices, without reserved seating premiums. Many of the posters and other publicity and lobby-display material remain unchanged, with the exception of a special slogan added to each which assures the public they are seeing the exact same film that roadshow patrons paid a premium to attend first. Both examples are complete and uncut, with very minor handling from storage, generally fine.

The movie quite literally changed my life. I have included a pic of me in Sly's Rocky 3 Cashmere overcoat, would much appreciate if it is possible for you to forward this email to Sly to let him know the overcoat is in good hands, and will be well taken care of, (as will be the Rambo knife forging tools, the other lot I won!) Wish you very happy holidays and a great 2016!
