Vintage 1911 White Star Line poster. This beautiful 23.5 x 40 in. poster features "White Star Line Types of World Famous Liners" illustrated in and around a central "white star" motif spanning a background globe. The sector below the star unmistakably features White Star Line's new Olympic-class liner (Olympic & Titanic) distinguished by the four smokestacks, which were the largest ocean liners in the world. Very rare, a White Star Line printing with the same graphics is part of the esteemed collection of Titanic collector/author Robert McDougall and is featured in the Robin Gardiner book The History of the White Star Line, listing it as "A 1911 White Star Line publication, advertising the company's Liverpool services." The Titanic launched 31 May 1911 and its ill-fated maiden voyage departed 10 April 1912. The poster has been archivally cleaned, restored and linen backed. In very good condition.
