The Brown Derby vintage wall sconce. (ca. 1930s) Vintage bronze finish cast-metal 9.6 x 8.6 x 4.5 in. derby-shaped wall sconce with 1 x 1.5 in. cutout in side of upper crown for light fixture and 2-bolt mounting hardware from the Hollywood branch of legendary restaurant, The Brown Derby. Located close to the major studios, The Brown Derby's Hollywood location was a place to broker deals and be seen. This iconic art deco wall sconce dates from the era of the March 1939 evening when Clark Gable proposed to Carole Lombard over a romantic meal in one of The Brown Derby's cozy banquette booths.
