Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope 3-sheet poster. (TCF, 1977) Vintage original 41 x 78 in. 3-sheet poster with Tom Jung artwork (designated on the 1-sheet size as style "A") for the first film in the Star Wars franchise. Until ca. 1970, this large format type poster was printed in 2 or more sections which needed to be joined for display, but by 1977 all posters like this could be printed in a single sheet. Large format US posters for any Star Wars films are quite scarce because they were no longer commonly used within the US for publicity, and those which were used typically were pasted on outdoor displays, making them impossible to save or reuse. This poster is stamped "foreign" by National Screen Service as it was intended for English-speaking foreign markets, but is still absolutely an original US studio-produced poster. Condition is good overall, folded as issued with minor separations at fold junctions primarily from storage handling, and occasional corner pinholes. Other issues include minor even age toning, writing in billing block, very minor edge tears, and a small verso tape stain. Image presents quite nicely, and will easily improve with archival linen-backing.
