Robert Langdon "Tom Hanks" Hero "Cryptex" decoder in original engraved box from The Da Vinci Code. (Columbia, 2006) The iconic hero Cryptex code breaker used by "Robert Langdon" (Tom Hanks) in this historical thriller. Includes amazing custom made ornate heavy brass cylinder with rotating alphabetical fully functioning combination locking mechanism, intricately designed etching combined with five rotating tumblers, when the correct password is aligned the cylinder 'pops' open to reveal the portable vault with the actual papyrus note still inside containing the "Da Vinci" secret, wrapped around the glass "security vial". Includes ornate custom wooden rose box, with gold, black trim, brass hinges and clasp, this special box has 'removable' oval flower flourish that reveals brass plaque bearing Da Vinci's backwards engraved message on the verso. While potentially screen-used, the papyrus scroll in this hero Cryptex has been trimmed down for an unspecific scene, so is missing its crimson edging seal on one side. The Cryptex prop was obtained from a member of the original production crew, and is the first original example we have encountered.
