The Land of the Lost (NBC TV, 1974-1976), Pair of Sleestak Hand Molds. Vintage original pair of plaster cast hand molds, each measuring approx. 8.25" x 8.25" x 12.5". Working from designs created by David Gerrold, Michael Westmore was responsible for bringing the iconic lizard creatures to life. Using latex diving suits for the body and plastic shells from the craft store for the eyes, Westmore had to sculpt the claw-like hands and feet from scratch. These original molds were made for the three performers (tall high school basketball players) who portrayed the Sleestak creatures in the first season. Molds exhibit production wear.
