The Jackie Gleason Show (CBS TV, 1966-1970), Jackie Gleason "Joe the Bartender" Bar and Saloon Doors. Vintage original group of (5) set design and stage prop elements used for Joe the Bartender (Jackie Gleason) routines filmed for the Miami-based iteration of The Jackie Gleason Show during the 1960s, consisting of (1) large studio-built wooden bar, measuring approx. 116" x 52" x 46", mounted on casters with a brown-colored finish to resemble an old wooden saloon bar, with details including silver-painted peg board to mimic a drain grill, 6- turned posts and 5- panels, and stowage cutout for hand props behind the bar. Retaining 2- original set decorators' stamps to interior, 1- reading "United Scenic Artists / Local 829" with corresponding emblem and 1- reading, "Miami / IATSE 545" with corresponding emblem. And (4) studio-built saloon doors, each 48" x 29" x 1" with static double-sided hinges, brass push-plates, glass panes painted various colors to resemble stained-glass, and pink and black painted outlines to resemble wood ornamentation. These doors can be seen at the opening to Joe the Bartender skits, as the saloon doors pan open, allowing the camera to enter the bar and the routine to begin. Joe the Bartender was one of most popular routines performed by Gleason throughout the many variations of his variety shows. Bar exhibiting considerable damage including wood breaches, cracking, evidence of termite damage, and scuffs and chips to exterior paint, with doors in production-used condition exhibiting some wear and age from handling including edgewear and scuffs.
