    Description

The Cryogenic Prison Chamber from "Demolition Man." Warner Bros., 1993. Large round acrylic chamber with mirror base and acrylic lid that has been etched and painted to simulate frozen liquid; together with a prop figure of a frozen Stallone as "John Spartan" who is put into suspended animation in the opening sequence of the film. (Please note three toes have come unattached from the left foot though they can be fixed, and there are substantial cracks in the acrylic chamber due to age and use.)
    Chamber: 55 1/2" (diameter) x 21"; Figure: 47" x 38" x 20"

"I've done many stunts in my life including horse falls, rolling in front of tanks, hanging ten thousand feet above the earth, but I've never been more nervous, actually scared, than when I did this scene. If there was a mechanical failure, drowning was very much in the cards, a distinct possibility. The lid itself was so heavy and hydraulically controlled that it would've been impossible to get it off of me in time before the liquid enveloped me. There were a couple of very large men with sledgehammers standing by as the sequence was being shot, ready to crack the Lucite top if something went wrong. But the truth is, it was almost bullet-resistant and nothing could've broke through it, so I was glad when that scene was over!"
