The Adventures of Superman (Motion Pictures for Television, 1952-1958), George Reeves "Superman" Iconic "S" Chest Insignia. Vintage original red and yellow wool felt patch of the iconic Superman "S" insignia, as featured on the costume ensemble worn by Superman (George Reeves) during production of the original television series that ran through throughout most of the 1950s. Consisting of a piece of red felt fabric hand-cut into the shape of a large "S" inside of an inverted pentagonal background and machine sewn onto a piece of yellow wool felt also cut to the shape of a pentagon, completing the design of the iconic emblem. Needing almost no introduction, the iconic Superman emblem is one of the most recognizable insignias across all Western culture, particularly within the superhero genre that emerged in the 20th century. The Adventures of Superman was the first television series featuring the Man of Steel, and ran for 6 seasons and over 100 episodes in both black-and-white and color. Measuring approx. 10" x 6.75" and exhibiting production wear and age including color fading and soiling to the back. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
