Star Trek Franchise (Paramount, 1987-2005), Group of (6) Borg Costume Accessories. Original group of (6) Borg costume components, created by legendary Star Trek makeup designer Michael Westmore, the set includes (2) eyepieces, 1- made from foam rubber with stretched skin painted metallic black, and 1- resin-based multimedia unit with an attached 26" rubber tube leading to a 2.5" x 2" x 0.5" metal box. Also included are (1) faux hairpiece (approx. 3" x 3.5") with a central resin appliance and medical clamps embedded in latex to simulate an exposed scalp with electronics fused to the brain beneath, and (3) additional mixed-media components measuring between 3.5" and 2.25". Exhibits production wear, including intentional distressing, fading, and surface stickiness. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From the Personal Collection of Michael Westmore.

More Information: About the Borg Designs:
Introduced in Season 2, Episode 16, "Q Who" (aired May 8, 1989), the Borg evolved significantly over the course of Star Trek: The Next Generation, with makeup designer Michael Westmore leading their transformation. Determined that "every Borg would be different from one another," Westmore customized each character with unique head and hand appliances. Working with his son, Michael Jr., he created individual eyepieces and added "pieces of old circuit boards" glued onto helmets for a more "high-tech look." Many components came from "parts of binoculars, pieces from model kits," with black tubing attached "from one to the other, or to an area of exposed skin."
As the series progressed, so too did Westmore's designs—eventually incorporating found electronics and functional light elements, which he discovered while scouring "gift and hobby stores for anything that would illuminate, bleep, or flash with the flip of its attached switch." This inventive, hands-on approach became a hallmark of the franchise's practical effects and helped define the Borg's ever-adapting, cybernetic aesthetic.
