    Description

RKO Art Deco Desk Lamp Screen Matched in Swing Time (RKO, 1936). Vintage original Machine Age Art Deco desk lamp by the Markel Corporation. Constructed of chromed metal, black painted hood and black Bakelite surfaced stacked base with chrome speed lines. A U-shaped arm holds the swiveling
lamp hood or shade, culminating in two decorative tiered finials at either end of the top of hood. In the crux of the "U" is set a larger finial featuring a Bakelite knob serving as a rotating light switch. RKO Studio markings are etched on the base bottom. A slight bend in the arm screen matches this lamp, highly visible on Lucky Garnett's (Fred Astaire) desk in the movie. Retaining original wrapped electrical cord and plug. Exhibiting expected age and wear. Some scratching to hood. Electronics untested. COA from Heritage Auctions.
