Description
Public Address Horn "Attention All Personnel" Announcing Incoming Wounded from M*A*S*H (CBS-TV, 1972-1983). 4077th Medical Army Surgical Hospital (abbreviated "MASH") public address loudspeaker horn made of fiberglass with metal mounting bracket that hung on a pole on the set of the beloved, multiple Emmy Award-winning television show, M*A*S*H. This loudspeaker would announce at the beginning of every episode, "Attention All Personnel!" calling the doctors and nurses to the operating rooms to deal with the incoming battle wounded during the moving opening credits sequence. Over the long run of the series, such announcements were typically voiced by actors Gary Burghoff "Walter 'Radar' O'Reilly", Jamie Farr "Corporal Max Klinger", or actor Sal Viscuso. Arguably the most moving address was when "Radar" announced in the last scene of Season 3, "Lieutenant Colonel Henry Blake's plane was shot down over the sea of Japan. There were no survivors". Created by the 20th Century-Fox prop department and bearing the handwritten notation "2011445.3" in black ink on the bracket and with a very faint barcode label affixed. It measures 23" (26" long to end of bracket) x 21.25" x 12.5". The internal voice coil element is not present. The speaker was salvaged by a crewmember when the 4077 exterior set at Fox Ranch, now Malibu Creek State Park in Malibu, California, was being disassembled and dumped following the end of the series. Exhibits some cracks, scratches and edge wear from its many years of production use, but remains in good condition overall.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
