Description
Marvel Studios-Documented Chris Evans "Captain America" Hero Screen Used Vibranium Shield from Avengers: Endgame (Marvel, 2019). Original screen used prop shield constructed of high-density foam, with a tooled aluminum exterior and hand-crafted leather arm and hand straps affixed to the verso interior. The instantly recognizable shield is 24" in diameter, approximately 3" deep. 30 to 40 shields were produced for Endgame, but this example was used for close-up "beauty" shots of Evans' holding it and its aluminum surface and finishing to showcase the most detail. Other less polished versions of the prop shields, some made of polyfoam, rubber or fiberglass, were used in long shots and action sequences and few survived the rigorous beating they took in production. This shield was handled with kid gloves so it could be utilized throughout production, making its remarkable condition nearly unheard of. The shield was created by Marvel Studios Senior Prop Master Russell Bobbitt. This shield was gifted to youth empowerment nonprofit Sand Sisters Los Angeles Inc. by Marvel Studios' Executive Vice President, Victoria Alonso and was offered in February 2020 in a raffle by Sand Sisters (now known as Girl Powerful). During promotion for this raffle, Chris Evans himself tweeted "Hey guys, you have a chance to win a screen-used Captain America shield from Avengers: Endgame to support @GirlPowerful_who are community leaders in real life." Following the raffle, this very shield was sold by Hake's Auctions on November 3, 2021 for $259,539.52. Captain America's shield has become an icon of American pop culture. A Chris Evans shield from Captain America: Winter Soldier resides at the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian. Exhibiting production wear, handling and minor scuffing. In Very Good to Fine condition. This hero prop has been authenticated by Marvel Studios Senior Prop Master Russell Bobbitt and comes with custom crafted plaque as well as an LOA, both signed by Bobbitt. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
