Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (Miramax Films, 2003), Sonny Chiba "Hattori Hanzo" Pair of Dressed Prop Swords. Original pair of dressed prop Japanese katana each measuring 39" x 3" with dull metal blades, studio distressed metal handguards (tsuba), and faux eel skin covered handles (tsuka) with wooden fasteners (mekugi) and wrapped cotton chording. Each katana is paired with a 31" scabbard (saya) featuring ornately-knotted sageo chords. Featured prominently during the scene where Beatrix Kiddo (Uma Thurman) admires swordsmith Hattori Hanzo's (Sonny Chiba) collection of handmade Katana. She briefly reaches for the green-wrapped katana before Hanzo encourages her to "Try the second one down". The yellow-wrapped katana can be seen in the establishing shot of the beautiful collection. Also included in the lot is a custom wooden sword stand measuring 14.5" x 9.5" x 3"and emblazoned with a gold painted dragon on the front and featuring red felt lining on each hook. Provenance: Obtained from the collection of Ed Borasch, the Jr. Property Master on the film. Swords display general production age and handling wear with light scuffing to the scabbard finishes. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
