Kien Shih "Han" Production-Made Metal Spiked "Bear Hand" from Enter the Dragon (Warner Bros., 1973). The spiked "bear hand" is one of the deadly hand attachments the villainous Han (Kien Shih) uses to torture and kill his enemies in the groundbreaking movie that sealed Bruce Lee's legacy as a superstar.

This vintage production made bear hand is constructed of 3-tooled 3" steel spikes embedded in a 3" x 4.5" x 1.5" wooden block base. The back of the base is covered with animal fur and a 1.25" long by 1.25 in round hollow pipe, perforated with 2 holes protrudes from the bottom for attachment to the actor.

The claw is highly visible In the unforgettable action sequence when Lee (Bruce Lee) and Roper (John Saxon) battle hordes of henchmen at Han's dojo. When Han removes his gloved metal hand, he attaches this spiked claw and strikes Lee in the face, drawing first
blood. Missing a subsequent hit, the claw is lodged in a wooden tabletop.

Credited prop maker in the film Shun-Chang Chen states in the included LOA copy that he made two "Bear" hands and writes in part: "For safety reasons, I would have preferred to make rubber versions for the fight scenes but we did not have the budget to make that many versions and we were under time limitations. However, I dulled down the knives on both sets of the knife hand and one of the bear hands. We needed the other bear hand to remain
sharp so that it would pierce the wood when Kien Shih struck it...I kept the dulled down bear hand..."

Although Chen mentions the spikes were dulled down, the metal spikes remain quite sharp. The prop measures 6" x 4.25" x 3.5". Exhibiting production wear and expected age and patina. In vintage very good to fine condition. Comes with a copy of an LOA from prop maker Shun-Chang Chen. COA from Heritage Auctions.
