Description

Hellboy (Columbia, 2004), Mike Mignola (4) Hand-Drawn Pages from Grigori Rasputin's Diary. Original set of (4) hand-drawn pages by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, each measuring approx. 11.75" x 8.5" and rendered on papyrus-style paper with deckled edges to evoke an ancient look. These pages feature spells and rituals written in faded brown (resembling dried blood), with key elements highlighted in red. Guillermo del Toro commissioned the pages from Mignola after meeting him in Prague, asking for artwork depicting Rasputin's visions-his death, resurrection, Hellboy's Mecha Glove, a portrait of Ero Jahad, the seven celestial names, and the symbol of the Behemoth, which Rasputin (Karel Roden) eventually becomes. Mignola created this original occult-style script for the pages, complete with symbols, accents, and arcane markings. One page includes the hidden phrase "Del -Toro" perhaps as a tribute. The pages appear in the scene where Ilsa Haupstein (Bridget Hodson) resurrects Rasputin. Reproductions were later included in the 2019 Hellboy DVD Steel- book and in Hellboy: The Art of the Movie (Dark Horse Books, 2004). Pages show light central creasing and minor edge and corner wear. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.

"These are Mike's original pages that were done to create the duplicate props that appear in the film. They are unbound and are incredibly attractive and accurate to occult diary aesthetics, something very few people master, and Mike is able to do better than anyone I know." From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
